WILLIE LEE KINARD III
is a poet, art director & sound artist forged in Newberry, South Carolina. An MFA candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Pittsburgh & finalist for the 2020 Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship, his musings include surrealist portraiture, gospel deep cuts, Black folklore & superstition. With work appearing or forthcoming in Slush Pile Magazine, WILDNESS, Foundry, A Portrait in Blues (Platypus Press 2017), & elsewhere, he has received fellowships & support from The Watering Hole & Winter Tangerine. A founding member of the literary trio, The Upper Room Collective, alongside poets Jari Bradley & J. Allen, he is an avid believer in evening thunderstorms & loose leaf tea.
